The clinical orientation week for the III BDS students was conducted from the 1st to the 4th October 2018. Faculty from various Departments provided students with information on Infection Control, Sterilization protocols and clinical codes to be followed while treating patients. The latest protocols and practices followed the world over were shared with the students though visual aids.

This program culminated with The White Coat ceremony on the 4th October 2018. This ceremony signifies the graduation of the IInd BDS students from the basic science departments to the clinical departments of dentistry. Dr. Shashidhara, Head, Department of Oral Pathology welcomed the fresher clinical students to the White Coat Ceremony.

The program was presided by the Dean, Dr. Sunil Muddaiah who also introduced the code of ethics and etiquette to the students. The fact that students must follow these codes while interacting with patients was also emphasized. This was followed by the clinical white coat presentation to the students by Dr. Rupesh P.L, Professor, Department of Prosthodontics and by Dr. Jithesh Jain, Vice-principal.

The ceremony concluded with Dr. Ponnappa K C rendering the students the solemn oath to uphold the highest standards in patient care.

In addition to lectures; Dr. Revan Joshi an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist conducted hands on training in CBCT interpretation. The second speaker Mr. Girish Murthy and his technical team demonstrated 3d printing of the mandible and dental crowns. The program was conducted with an active interactive session and was followed by a valedictory function.
